Detailed Job Description & Responsibilities

As a Lead Psychiatrist in our facility, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of mental health patients. Your role will involve:

1. Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis

Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for patients presenting with a wide range of mental health issues, including anxiety disorders, clinical depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. You will be expected to utilize modern diagnostic tools and clinical interviews to establish accurate treatment paths.

2. Specialized Addiction Treatment

Given the regional demand, a significant focus will be on De-addiction services. You will design and oversee detoxification protocols and long-term rehabilitation strategies for patients struggling with substance abuse.

3. Medication Management (Psychopharmacology)

Prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications. You will evaluate the effectiveness of drug therapies, manage side effects, and adjust dosages to ensure optimal patient safety and recovery.

4. Holistic Patient Care

Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff. You will provide clinical supervision and ensure that psychotherapy sessions (CBT, DBT, etc.) are integrated into the patient’s recovery plan.

5. OPD & IPD Management

Handling high-volume Outpatient Department (OPD) consultations while managing the care of admitted patients in the Inpatient Department (IPD). This includes crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care when required.

Candidate Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who is not only clinically proficient but also empathetic and culturally sensitive to the needs of the Jammu and Kashmir community.

  • Educational Qualification: MBBS followed by an MD in Psychiatry or DNB in Psychiatry from a recognized medical college/university.
  • Registration: Must have a valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council.
  • Skills: * Proficiency in diagnosing complex psychiatric comorbidities.
    • Excellent communication skills in Hindi/English
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and their families.
